Roll, Roll, Roll In Ze Hay!

How early is too early to start sleeping around?

This is a heated topic amongst religious and family groups, but I don't think they were ready for the curve ball being hurled at them in the form of a 12 year old boy named Alfie Patten.  Along with his 15 year old girlfriend, Chantelle Steadman, Alfie welcomed a daughter into the world last Monday.

I find this ridiculous.  When I read that the two children plan to stay in school and raise the baby to have a good future just to prove everybody wrong, I actually laughed out loud.  This is absurd.  The British police are refraining from pressing charges against the children because it is in nobody's best interest.

What's more, England has had the highest rate of teen pregnancy out of all of western Europe.  385 girls under the age of 14 became pregnant between 1998 and 2007.

What is this world coming to?

  1. Would it be less absurd if they were to drop out of school and attempt to raise the baby with out a GED? Sometimes it is "proving others wrong" that we find ourselves and make priorities. I admit, it is quite shocking to hear that children at that age are procreating... but like you said - life throws curve balls. Not everyone will hit them out of the park. Some of us have to deal with the strikes, and do the best we can.

  2. I guess I should clarify my thoughts.
Sometimes I interject my own dialogue with comments before I really finish a statement.
Honestly, the only thing I thought was absurd was the fact that they had a child so young, not that they wanted to stay in school and try to raise the child to have a healthy successful life.

    Sorry...

  3. I agree about the ludicrousness of babies having babies, it's unfortunate. They should spike the school's water system with birth control.

  4. I think that would be good until the boys started complaining about cramping and started throwing hissy fits over their butt being too big.

  5. How about a little sex education in schools, rather than just saying "don't"?
